Career Coaching

Historically, career development theory and counselling practice has focused on the stable aspects of both individuals and occupations.  More recently, however, both theorists and counsellors have had to acknowledge the importance of chance and the reality of change as instrumental in the way career development plays out in human experience.

Similarly at Impact Career Solutions these options are considered in our processes, allowing for meaningful discussion that takes into account the dynamic nature of the environment in which we still attempt to secure stable employment, albeit for shorter periods of time, creating an ever changing workplace and the need for flexibility.

You can expect some of the following in our methods:

  • Work out personal career goals and strategies with creative and flexible approaches
  • Successfully help you search new employment and directions
  • Identify opportunities needed to find new employment paths
  • Help you write dynamic resumes and cover letters
  • Address Selection Criteria for government positions
  • Prepare you to re-enter the workforce by identifying job search skills
  • Assess your desire to become self employed and identify opportunities
  • Encourage training or retraining priorities
  • Explore active retirement

Coaching can then help you:

  • Take stock of your current situation
  • Identify realistic options and identify what values drive you
  • Acknowledge potential blacks and put in strategies to overcome them
  • Raise and discuss anxieties and fears
  • Feel positive about taking up the challenge
  • Put in place a personal road map to get you to your goal

Psychometric Testing is used as appropriate for the client who wants to achieve more clarity around their personality type and method of interacting with other people both in a personal and professional sense.  Lois is an accredited Myers Briggs Consultant and for Leadership Assessment she uses RocheMartin Emotional Intelligence Reporting.

Before commencing work together you will have an in-depth interview to ascertain what outcomes you hope to achieve.

A price package is then suggested based on what she sees as the best option for you to take in achieving your career objectives.  This could be one or two sessions or a more in-depth approach over a longer period of time the inclusion of resume writing, interview coaching and or testing.  Patience is required with career transition, it is not an overnight fix and work is required from the client over and beyond the length of the session.  It is a journey of self discovery and the results will be useful in your personal life as well.
